Refrigeration & air conditioning

Heating, cooling, drying and humidifying are topics of great importance that are becoming ever more relevant due to climate change and the energy transition. But what distinguishes good air conditioning from bad, and just how much can two commercially available dehumidifiers differ from each other?

Are you a manufacturer or need a consumer’s perspective?

The ipi institutes answer your questions about refrigeration & air conditioning

Whether from a consumer perspective or that of the manufacturer, with us you are in good hands. This is because we take an individual approach to your questions and concerns, meaning that you can carry out exactly the right study you need. For this reason, we not only offer tailor-made laboratory testing but also perform traditional measurements in line with applicable testing standards (DIN EN 14511, DIN EN 14825) [German Institute for Standardisation]. Besides conducting technical measurements, we can also evaluate your product for handling and comfort, or, if desired, in combination with consumer surveys.

industry-standard testing & tailor-made test designs

air conditioning, our core competence

With our climate-controlled chambers optimised for climate-controlled tests, there are almost no limits to what we can do. We handle everything from rigorous industry-standard tests that apply the calorimetric procedure with a constant cooling load to practice-oriented comparison tests that carefully scrutinise and evaluate all aspects of an appliance – you name it, we test it.

We offer the following industry-standard testing for air conditioners

  • DIN EN 14511-1:2019
  • DIN EN 14511-2:2019
  • DIN EN 14511-3:2019
  • DIN EN 14511-4:2019
  • DIN EN 14825:2019

We have been testing air conditioning systems for decades. This is how we know what distinguishes a good appliance from a bad one. We will be happy to develop a tailor-made test for you with expert assessments or consumer tests – and needless to say for other HVAC products too.

how do the ipi institutes test air conditioning systems?

our refrigeration and air conditioning equipment

With a total of ten climate-controlled chambers, we are equipped for every challenge. Four of these climate-controlled chambers are state-of-the-art and designed specifically for testing air conditioning systems. This enables us to carry out tests under many different conditions and offer you a wide range of physical measurements.

  • Temperatures from -20 °C to 40 °C
  • Relative humidity from 10 % to 100 %
  • Thermical outputs up to 7 kW
  • Electrical power consuption up to 3 kW
